Terms and Conditions for Presenters
Makit Together Presenter Agreement
Hey there, potential Makit Together presenter!
This agreement lays out what we (the folks running Makit Together) and you (the Presenter) can expect from each other for our annual craft event. By saying yes to presenting, you're agreeing to these simple terms:
1. About Your Presentation
- 1.1 What You'll Share: You'll teach or demo the craft you told us about during your application. Please make sure your content is your own, accurate, and a good fit for the Makit Together crowd.
- 1.2 Your Session Name & Description: We might tweak your session title or description a little to make sure it's super clear and fits nicely with all our event materials.
- 1.3 Sticking to Deadlines: We'll give you some important dates for things like sending us your handouts, slides, or supply lists, and for any tech checks before the event. Please do your best to hit those!
- 1.4 Spreading the Word: Feel free to shout out your involvement in Makit Together on your social media and other channels! We'll give you some cool logos and graphics to use.
- 1.5 No Hard Selling: Your presentation is all about sharing your craft and knowledge. Please don't use your session time to directly sell your products, services, or promote other events. A quick mention of your business or website at the very end is fine. If you have a sponsorship agreement, that overrides this point.
2. Your Work & Our Use of It
- 2.1 Your Original Stuff: You promise that whatever you share in your presentation—your designs, techniques, patterns, or any written materials—is either your own original creation or you have permission to use it.
- 2.2 Keeping Us Safe: If someone claims your content steps on their intellectual property rights, you agree to handle it and protect Makit Together from any legal headaches or costs.
- 2.3 How We Can Use Your Info: You give Makit Together permission to use your name, photo, a bit about you, your session title, and description to promote and document the event. This means we can put it on our website, social media, and in our marketing materials.
- 2.4 Recording Your Session: You're okay with us recording your presentation (video, audio, or photos) during the event. We might use these recordings to show what Makit Together is all about, for learning purposes, or to share with attendees or the public (like on our website or YouTube). You won't get extra pay for this, but it helps us share the craft love!
3. Event Details & What to Expect
- 3.1 Your Slot & Any Changes: We'll let you know your confirmed presentation date, time, and where it will be. We'll try our best to stick to the schedule, but sometimes we might need to change things up (like the time or even the venue) if something unexpected happens. We'll give you plenty of notice if that happens.
- 3.2 What We Provide (and What You Bring): We'll typically have basic tech like a projector, screen, and microphone ready for you. There will be separate documention for you to fill out regarding supplies for your workshop(s). We expect you to bring what you say you will bring and we will provide what we say we will provide.
- 3.3 Setting Up & Packing Up: Please make sure your presentation area is ready before your session starts and that you tidy up and clear out right after your session finishes.
- 3.4 Being Professional: We expect everyone to be respectful and professional. Makit Together can ask any presenter to leave if their behavior is disruptive or inappropriate.
4. Money Talk
- 4.1 Payment: Payment (cash payments or in-kind ticket) will be determined by amount of workshops presented and agreements made before any committment to present at Makit Together.
- 4.2 Your Own Costs: Unless we've specifically agreed in writing, you're responsible for all your own costs, like travel, where you stay, food, and any materials you need for your presentation.
- 4.3 Event Entry: You might need to register for the event. If there are any special presenter discounts or perks for that, we'll let you know separately.
5. Cancellations & Big Problems
- 5.1 If You Need to Cancel: If you can't make it, please tell us right away in writing.
- 5.2 If We Have to Cancel/Reschedule: If Makit Together has to be canceled, postponed, or changed a lot because of things out of our control (like a natural disaster, a pandemic, or a government order), we won't be responsible for any costs or damages you might have. We'll tell you as soon as possible if this happens.
6. The Nitty-Gritty
- 6.1 You're Independent: Just so we're clear, you're your own boss here, not an employee or agent of Makit Together.
- 6.2 This Is the Whole Deal: This agreement covers everything between you and Makit Together about your presenting at the event.
- 6.3 Nebraska Rules: This agreement follows the laws of Nebraska.
- 6.4 Changes: Any changes to this agreement need to be written down and signed by both you and Makit Together.
By submitting your proposal or agreeing to present at Makit Together, you're saying you've read, understood, and agree to these simple terms.
